No matter the occasion, Uncorked offers the best ways to celebrate.”

Captain Katie offers this handy cheat sheet to pre-wedding parties, and her favorite ways to celebrate with Uncorked Wine Tours along the way:

The Engagement Party

What it is: Exactly what it sounds like. Think of it as a kickoff to all the wedding events that will happen during your path to the altar.

Who hosts: An engagement party is often hosted by one or both sets of parents, but that is not a hard and fast rule.

Who attends: Usually, it’s the bridal party, family and close friends. Don’t feel like you have to invite a ton of people—it’s totally okay to keep this intimate.

Why have it: Engagement parties are a great way to gather together your close family and friends to celebrate your recent engagement and to get your families better acquainted.

When to do it: Soon after you get engaged—most ideally within three months—after all, that’s what the party’s all about. But you might want to wait until you’ve set a wedding date – everyone will ask when it is!

Where to do it: “I love taking engagement parties on elegant Sampler Tours. It’s a great way to get to know the pallets of your most important wedding guests, and a lovely way to introduce newcomers to Paso Robles,” says Katie. Uncorked Wine Tours Sampler Tours include everything from wines, olive oils, cheeses, beer, cider, organic farms, goat cheese, and even coffee.

The Bridal Shower

What it is: A shower is a way of honoring the bride-to-be, and “showering” her with gifts for her new married home.

Who hosts: Classic etiquette rules state that the bride’s mom or sister isn’t supposed to host the shower, but it’s really a personal decision for each bride, family and friends. It’s also completely fine to have multiple showers!

Who attends: Usually, it’s close friends and relatives—just how big the guest list is up to you and your host. But the same rule goes for the shower as goes for the other pre-wedding parties: Don’t invite anyone you won’t invite to the actual wedding.

Why to have it: Not only does a shower provide the couple with things that can make their newlywed house more of a home, it’s another opportunity to socialize with family and friends.

When to do it: Two to six months before the wedding is the ideal time, so guests don’t feel like they’re going to so many wedding events right in a row.

Where to do it: “For Bridal Showers, our traditional Winery & Vineyard Tours are perfect,” says Katie. “From an entertainment perspective, the tour and tastings at our picturesque area vineyards are all you need. Many have beautiful picnic areas, creating the perfect setting for the bride to open gifts and celebrate with a catered meal.”

What it is: Bonding time with your besties.

Who hosts: “The maid or matron of honor and best man are responsible for planning and organizing the bachelor and bachelorette parties, with help from the bridal party.

Who attends: Usually the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and maybe some other close friends of the bride and groom.

Why have it: To let loose a little and have fun! Here you are spending time and energy planning your wedding. Isn’t it a great idea to chill out with your BFFs?

When to have it: One to three months beforehand is best.

Where to do it: “This party should be focused on the bride or groom, so it should be doing the things that person loves the most,” says Katie. “We have so many options, from fun and exciting Zip’n & Sippin excursions to custom tasting tours to our favorite spots for live music, great food, and the Central Coast’s best wine, beer, cider, and distilled spirits.”
